A video game of the same name based on the series was released in 2000. It was preceded by the direct-to-video film Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins. The upcoming 2022 film Lightyear tells an alternative version of the title character's story. It originally serves as a spin-off of the Toy Story franchise.
